On April 4, 2017 a member of the public experienced a medical crisis outside of the Lancaster County Correctional Center. The visitor was outside of the facility when he suffered a seizure causing him to fall face first onto the sidewalk. The fall resulted in multiple lacerations to his face and an excessive amount of bleeding. Upon notification of this incident Officer Jones rushed outside to attend to the visitor. She found him unresponsive and struggling to breathe due to the excessive bleeding. Jones immediately turned him on his side to open his airway and remained with him until Lincoln Fire and Rescue personnel were on the scene. Fellow officer, Officer Michael Fowler was quoted about Jones, "She should be recognized for her prompt, professional and compassionate response."

Jones has been with Lancaster County since September 2016 and works as an On-Call Correctional Officer. Lancaster County Board Commissioner, Deb Schorr noted that, "It's inspiring to see one of our newer employees winning this award, your work here demonstrates your commitment to not only Lancaster County but also the general public and we sincerely appreciate it."
