Commissioner's Award of Excellence

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners presented the 2010 Annual Commissioners Award of Excellence to Elden Forsgren, an Equipment Operator for the Lancaster County Engineering Department. This award recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County. As the 2010 Annual Commissioners Award of Excellence recipient Elden was awarded a $500 U.S. Savings Bond, two days off with pay and a plaque.

Elden won the award in the category of Valor for his actions when he came upon a car accident while grading South 38th Street the morning of May 26, 2010. He shut down his grader and ran to the driver's aid. The driver was upside down in the car. Elden reacted to the situation without hesitation, placed the 9-1-1 call, managed to pry the door open and created a way out for the driver. He stayed with the driver until the emergency squad arrived, assuring him help was on the way.

Commissioners Annual Award of Excellence Honorable Mention recipients were Barbara Frazier, an employee with the County Weed Control Authority, and Chad Anderson, an employee with Lancaster County Corrections.

County Board of Commissioners Chair Deb Schorr stated: "On behalf of the Board of Commissioners I want to congratulate these three employees and thank them for their dedication to Lancaster County. We are fortunate to have many wonderful employees who provide great service to our citizens."
