Lancaster County Commissioners Seek Applicants for Infrastructure Finance Task Force

Lincoln, NE - August 10, 2017 - The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications for a newly created Infrastructure Financing Task Force. The group will focus on addressing the current and long-term infrastructure needs in Lancaster County.

The task force will be charged with identifying potential revenue sources to fund infrastructure needs that include bridge repair, new pavement to address traffic count safety challenges, as well as general maintenance. Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman estimates that Lancaster County has more than $100 million in infrastructure needs to be addressed. The Lancaster County Commissioners are seeking community volunteers from the following fields to participate on the Task Force: Agriculture, Construction/Engineering, Economic Development, Environmentalists, Financial Expertise, and Homebuilders/Realtors. Commissioners are also requesting that those holding leadership positions within rural school districts in Lancaster County consider participating in the task force. County residents, especially those living in towns and villages located in the county are also encouraged to volunteer. Interested applicants should email a resume and contact information to Ann Ames at by August 31, 2017.

The Lancaster County Commissioners aim to convene the Task Force in early September and anticipate that it will meet actively until recommendations regarding funding for infrastructure repair and maintenance can be made. The Task Force will be responsible for reviewing potential funding mechanisms and establish fundamentals related to implementation of such recommendations
