Online Stop Class

Lincoln, NE- Lancaster County's Department of Community Corrections announced today that it will offer Online STOP Class beginning October 1, 2014. The Online STOP Class is available to those cited for minor traffic violations issued in Lancaster County. Agency officials are pleased to offer an option that increases accessibility and is more accommodating to busy schedules. The classroom option remains available at both the Community Corrections and Nebraska Safety Council locations.

The Safety Training Option Program (STOP) is a DMV approved defensive driving course available in Lancaster County for dismissal of minor traffic offenses. By completing the four hour course in a classroom setting or by using the new online option, participants avoid traffic fines and no points are assessed against their license. Additionally, court costs can be avoided by registering within 10 days, either online or in person. Registration after 10 days will require doing so in person in addition to paying the court costs associated with the ticket. If a driver is cited for no proof of insurance, no license on person, or no proof of registration, STOP registration must be completed in person to show proof of those documents. STOP class may be taken once every three years.

To sign up for Online STOP classes go to key word STOP. The user will complete the online registration which includes basic contact information and the citation number, and can be found on the traffic ticket, then will be directed to select their choice of instruction (online or classroom). You may also sign up in person for either instruction option.
