Lancaster County Board Of Commissioners
Recognize National County Government Month

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, along with the National Association of County Officials, recognizes April as National County Government Month. National County Government Month is celebrated each April by the nation's counties to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of county government. The theme for this year is "Serving our Veterans, Armed Forces and their Families".

Deb Schorr, Chair, Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, stated "Lancaster County is proud of our veterans and our citizens who are currently serving on active duty. The rest of the Board joins me in thanking them and their families, and we are pleased to be able to recognize them during this year's National County Government Month".

Lancaster County Veterans Service Officer Gary Chalupa will speak during the Tuesday, April 12, 2011 meeting of the Board of Commissioners. He will provide information about Lancaster County's veterans and those currently serving in the military. The meeting will be held at 9:30 AM in the County/City Chambers, Room 112 of the County-City Building located at 555 S. 10th Street in Lincoln. During the meeting the Board will issue a proclamation recognizing National County Government Month and our veterans, those currently serving in the armed forces, and their families.

During National County Government Month, Chair Deb Schorr encourages citizens to learn more about Lancaster County programs. You are invited to check the "Fact of the Day" on the County's website: The "Fact of the Day" will highlight services County agencies provide. To learn more, links to all County agencies can be found on that same web page.

During National County Government Month members of the Board of Commissioners will be visiting area schools. If you would like to arrange a tour of one of the County's facilities or schedule a County official for a speaking engagement please call 402-441-7447.
