Captain Gary Juilfs
Criminal Investigations Division Captain

Captain Gary Juilfs joined the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in 1980 after serving as an Iowa law enforcement officer from 1974 to 1979. He worked first with the Perry Police Department and then with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office before returning to Nebraska.

During his tenure with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office he served as a patrol deputy and investigator until his promotion to Sergeant in May of 1991. He served as a patrol and records supervisor until August of 1999, when he was promoted to the rank of Captain. He has since commanded the Administrative Support, Civil, and Criminal divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Juilfs has served as a past president of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, as a member of the Tactical Response Unit, as a Field Training Officer (FTO), as FTO coordinator, and as a Firearms Instructor.

Gary grew up in rural Lancaster County and graduated from Waverly High School. He and his wife Lisa, a Registered Nurse, live on an acreage in northern Lancaster County. His daughter Amy and her husband Scott reside in Virginia.
