Captain John Vik
Civil Division Captain

Captain John Vik graduated from Raymond Central High School in 2002 and from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2006. He also attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 155th Security Forces Squadron of the Nebraska Air National Guard from 2001 – 2007 including time on active duty in support of Operations Noble Eagle & Enduring Freedom. He joined LSO in 2006 and graduated first in his class from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center’s 167th Basic Training Academy.

During his career, Captain Vik has served as a Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Child Passenger Safety Technician, Traffic Crash Reconstructionist, and Criminal Investigator. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2013 and served as a Patrol Supervisor, Special Services Supervisor, Crash Reconstruction Coordinator, and Honor Guard Coordinator. In 2017 he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Currently commanding the Civil Division, Captain Vik oversees LSO’s civil process deputies as well as the Personnel & Training Unit.

Captain Vik and his wife Heather are the proud parents of three children.
