Lancaster County's Chief Deputy Sheriff William Jarrett began his career in law enforcement on the Lincoln Police Department in 1974 and graduated from the Lincoln Police training academy in that same year. He left the Lincoln Police Department in 1977 to briefly pursue a career outside law enforcement.
Returning to law enforcement as a member of the Sheriff's Office in 1979, Chief Jarrett served in every division in the Office before being promoted to the rank of sergeant in August of 1991. Sheriff Tom Casady appointed him Chief Deputy in November 1991. Chief Jarrett has served as Chief Deputy for several Sheriffs including Tom Casady, John Packet, Sam VanPelt, and currently Sheriff Terry Wagner. For several months in 1994 Jarrett was in charge of the Sheriff’s Office until Sheriff Terry Wagner was elected and took office. Some of Chief Jarrett's areas of service include:

Chief Jarrett is a 1971 graduate of Lincoln Pius X High School and attended John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Bill and his wife Corinne were married in 1974 and have resided in Lincoln since. Chief Jarrett is an active leader in the Lincoln community and currently serves on the Lincoln Council on Alcohol Drug (LCAD) Board, is a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of Police, and an honorary member of the American Legion Club to mention a few. |
