Lancaster County Cooperative Extension serves community residents with educational programs and materials that are unbiased and research-based. It provides an important linkage to the University of Nebraska, Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and United States Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. Areas of focus include:
- Agriculture / Acreage
- Community Development
- Environment and Natural Resources
- Family Resources
- 4-H / Youth
- Pest Management
Individual consultation, workshops, newsletters, fact sheets, radio, videotapes and advanced delivery methods using satellite and Internet technology are means of extension delivery. Linkages with numerous agencies and organizations within our community also help to develop and deliver educational programs related to economic, social and environmental well-being of Lancaster County Residents.
Over 14,000 Lacster County youth (ages 5-19) are involved annually in 4-H sponsored activities that develop life skills and a sense of community. Along with Extension staff, over 3,200 Lancaster County youth and adult volunteers dedicate their time and expertise to make it all happen.
