The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2016 Annual Commissioners Award of Excellence is Dan Miller, Assistant Maintenance and Construction Manager for Corrections. The award was presented at today's Board meeting.
In his nomination, Mr. Brockman stated, "On November 12, 2015, an officer was trying to gain control of an inmate when the inmate began assaulting him. Dan happened to be doing maintenance work in this area, and did not hesitate to respond, helping subdue the inmate and thus protect the officer from being seriously injured".
Todd Wiltgen, Lancaster County Board Chair, thanked Mr. Miller for his observation and immediate response to this situation, keeping it from becoming more serious. Commissioner Bill Avery presented the award stating, "On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to present you with this award. You are to be commended for your actions to ensure the safety of the officer. We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize you."
The Commissioners Award of Excellence recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
