Commissioner's Award of Excellence
- MAY 2016 WINNER - Connie Roark
Category - Productivity and Customer Relations
Connie Roark, General Assistance Specialist with Lancaster County Human Services, received the Commissioners' Award of Excellence for May, 2016 at the June 7th meeting of the Board of Commissioners. Employed by Lancaster County since June, 2007 in the General Assistance Department, Connie was nominated in the categories of Productivity and Customer Relations by Cynthia Covert, General Assistance Officer.
Connie's responsibilities include processing and payment of non-medical claims, monitoring and managing Social Security and Medicaid statuses for clients, as well as providing receptionist coverage. In her nomination, Cynthia Covert noted that one of the most important and time consuming responsibilities for Connie is obtaining reimbursements from medical providers once a General Assistance client is Medicaid eligible. She noted "Connie is very diligent and quite successful in her ability to work with Medicaid and these providers. Connie has been able to obtain revenues through these reimbursements that total approximately $4.9 million dollars from June, 2008 to April, 2016. She has a reputation as a calm person who is respectfully persistent in her responsibilities".
In thanking Ms. Roark, Roma Amundson, Board Chair, noted that, because of her dedication and outstanding performance, Lancaster County's reimbursement rate more than doubled since she has been in this position. She stated, "On behalf of the Board, I am very pleased to present you with this award. You have been responsible for the County receiving an average of $548,488 per year in reimbursements, which is not a small amount and ultimately results in a lower property tax requirement for this department. We commend you for your outstanding work and are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize you."
The Commissioners Award of Excellence recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
