Commissioner's Award of Excellence
- SEPTEMBER 2015 WINNER - Ron Bohaty
County Engineering Office;
Category - Productivity
Ron Bohaty, Shop Supervisor in the County Engineering Department, received the Commissioners Award of Excellence for September, 2015 at the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners meeting Sept. 29th. He was nominated by County Engineer Pam Dingman in the category of Productivity. He began working for Lancaster County on December 20, 2010.
Pam Dingman noted that Ron played an important role in implementing the County Engineer's new radio system. He researched, tested, and inventoried old radios and worked extensively with the Purchasing Department in the process to select and purchase new radios. After the new radio system was purchased Ron made sure the proper paperwork was completed so the department could take advantage of a rebate. He then installed the radios and software, trained employees on the use of the new radios, and implemented and monitored the new system.
Pam Dingman added, "Ron has assisted with other duties when needed, including wastewater tank installation, waste oil tank installation, EPA SPCC plans, fire alarm installation, district building maintenance, bridge crew workload assignment, paint striping, snow removal, office HVAC management and phone system management. Additionally, Ron is part of the emergency contact rotation for the after-hours answering service. He manages to take on all these projects while still completing his daily duties. Even though Ron is always very busy, he will stop and help his co-workers anytime and is always pleasant while doing so. Ron is happy to work extra hours as needed during flooding or winter weather events."
Roma Amundson, Lancaster County Board of Commissioners Chair, stated "On behalf of the Board I am pleased to present you with this award. Your understanding of the department's need for radios and your thorough research proved valuable to the department and Purchasing through the bid and purchasing process, and your attention to detail resulted in the ability to take advantage of the rebate. You installed the radios and software and then trained employees on the use of the radios, and now are monitoring the new system. You took on this project, in addition to all of your other duties, and it has been successful. Your dedication is evident, and we thank you for your excellent work."
The Commissioners Award of Excellence award recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
