Commissioner's Award of Excellence

Nita Baldwin, Veterans Service Specialist in the Lancaster County Veterans Service Office, was presented with the Commissioners Award of Excellence Award for June, 2015 at the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners meeting July 28, 2015. Nita was hired in 2007 and worked at Lancaster Manor through the end of 2009, when she began working for the County Veterans Service Office. She also was employed by the Lancaster County Assessor's Office from 1998 - 2000. Nita was nominated by Gary Chalupa, Veterans Service Officer, in the category of Productivity.

Gary Chalupa, in his nomination letter, stated "It has been a real pleasure having Nita as part of the team, she is a professional of the highest caliber and meticulous in her work. The Veterans Service Office has received many compliments from veterans we serve, other service officers, and other Lancaster County employees who praise her work. Nita is innovative and regularly exceeds expectations."

When Nita was challenged with the task of learning to use the VETRASPEC software Gary says she jumped in with both feet, quickly mastering the software. Gary noted "The resulting productivity of the office increased to a level that made it possible to reduce the time it took to file disability claims, and with better results". He said the office appreciated her computer skills which saved staff time, and praised her enthusiasm about embracing change. Gary went on to say "Nita has superior skills, productivity and is dedicated to her job. She is retiring this year and she will be greatly missed".

Roma Amundson, Lancaster County Board of Commissioners Chair, stated "On behalf of the Board I am pleased to present you with this award. You have been an asset to the County Veterans Service Office and to the citizens of Lancaster County. Your enthusiasm and dedication are evident from Gary's comments. It is notable that veterans served by the office have been complimentary of you and your work. You are very deserving of this recognition. Thank you for your excellent work and we wish you well in your retirement."

The Commissioners Award of Excellence award recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
