Commissioner's Award of Excellence
- MAY 2015 WINNER - Adam Powers
Category - Productivity
Adam Powers, Corrections Sergeant, was presented with the Commissioners Award of Excellence Award for May, 2015 at the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners meeting June 16, 2015. Adam began working for Lancaster County on October 1, 2001, and was nominated for this award by Lieutenant Donald Brandt II, Corrections, in the category of Productivity.
Lt. Brandt noted, in his nomination, that when Sgt. Powers was recently assigned to the Lancaster County Department of Correction's training division, his passion for training immediately became apparent. Sgt. Powers began assessing and identifying areas of training that needed revision, identified equipment needs and the cost of replacement, set up the computer lab to facilitate staff leaning, attended the NIC Lesson Plan Writing Course and has rewritten many of the lesson plans for the department, and became a certified trainer for training CPR instructors. "Training doesn't stop in the training room for Sgt. Powers. He is always coaching new staff and willing to assist shift managers and supervisors whenever necessary", wrote Lt. Brandt.
Lt. Brandt has also assisted Corrections in developing emergency policies and procedures and locating emergency and first aid equipment throughout the facility. He also takes the lead in lending support and assistance to co-workers experiencing family emergencies and in sending care packages for co-workers deployed overseas.
Roma Amundson, Lancaster County Board of Commissioners Chair, stated "On behalf of the Board I am pleased to present you with this award. Your passion for training and assisting co-workers speaks highly of you. You clearly go the extra mile and we appreciate your contributions and dedication to your work at Corrections. You are very deserving of this recognition. Thank you for your excellent work."
The Commissioners Award of Excellence award recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
