Commissioner's Award of Excellence
- AUGUST 2014 WINNERS - Kurt Renner, Maintenance Repair Worker
Category - Productivity
Kurt Renner, a Maintenance Repair Worker for Lancaster County, was presented with the Commissioners Award of Excellence Award for August, 2014 at the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners meeting Sept. 9, 2014. He was nominated for this award by District Court Judge Robert Otte in the category of Productivity.
In his nomination Judge Otte stated "Kurt's carpentry skills are remarkable. We often have projects for the Court which require the construction or modification of bookcases, cabinets, counters, desktops, etc. that would simply be too expensive to purchase and would not match the style or quality that has been maintained in our courtrooms and chambers".
Recently, Kurt agreed to help with refurbishing a Jury Lounge in the Hall of Justice. He built tables, cabinets and counters, which would not have been in the budget. Kurt's work and skill turned what was a "shabby" room into a useable conference and meeting space. Judge Otte added, "I am confident Kurt's work for the County pays for itself many times over and it is always a pleasure to deal with Kurt on any project. Kurt did a total of 10 pieces and the work was simply superb. I suspect the work had a value of more than $7,500".
Kurt began working for Lancaster County on January 28, 1985. He is employed at the City-County Property Management Department.
Larry Hudkins, Chair of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, stated "The Board of Commissioners is pleased to recognize Kurt with this award. His attitude toward tackling these types of projects is commendable, and his skills and abilities in producing some beautiful and well-crafted pieces for the District Court saved the cost of purchasing them commercially. On behalf of the Board of Commissioners I would like to thank him for his excellent work".
The Commissioners Award of Excellence award recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
