- JUNE 2014 WINNERS - Maria Bachman, Brian Hansen and David Marreel
Category - Productivity
Maria Bachman, Brian Hansen and David Marreel, the Lancaster County Corrections Transition Team, were presented with the Commissioners Award of Excellence Award for June, 2014 at the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners meeting today. The team was nominated for this award by Brad Johnson of the Lancaster County Corrections Department in the category of Productivity.
These officers comprised the transition team responsible for the Department's move to the new facility. They helped prepare for the transition by becoming experts in certain areas, provided specialized training and conducted countless tours.
In his nomination Mr. Johnson stated "Maria Bachman wrote over 320 post procedures and developed the facility schedule. She researched and organized our bid and ordering process for the kitchen's small wares and the entire facility's janitorial purchases. She was also tasked with bidding and purchasing many other items ranging from inmate clothing to pod mailboxes. Brian Hansen became the subject matter expert on the Key Watcher system, touch screens, video monitoring, video visitation, staff phones and PDAs. He also took the lead with monitoring punch list items. David Marreel acted as my person of contact for many of the vendors and contractors that worked in the new facility between the time we took possession and moved into the facility. He answered many of the mundane questions that arose in a project of this size. He supervised inmate crews that helped clean, wash and fold inmate clothing and linens and oversaw the distribution of much of the equipment and materials within the building."
Mr. Johnson concluded "Much of the work these team members conducted was self-initiated. They each recognized tasks that needed to be completed and took steps to see that these tasks were completed in a professional manner with safety and security in mind. They represented our department and Lancaster County with professionalism in their countless interactions with other agencies and companies."
Maria Bachman began working for Lancaster County on August 12, 2002, Brian Hansen on September 9, 2003 and David Marreel on January 22, 1998. They are all employed at the Lancaster County Department of Corrections.
Brent Smoyer, Vice-Chair of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, stated "The Board of Commissioners is pleased to recognize Maria, Brian and David with this award. They provided outstanding service to Corrections and Lancaster County during the move to the new Corrections facility. On behalf of the Board of Commissioners I would like to thank them for their diligent efforts to help make the move into the new facility go smoothly."
