PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST

(THIS OFFICE DOES NOT MAINTAIN COUNTY COURT OR DISTRICT COURT RECORDS)

The County Clerk's office has numerous public records on file - some dating back to the 1800's! These records include resolutions, meeting agendas and minutes, contracts, financial documents and various licenses and permits. Anyone can request a public record by filling out the "Public Records Request Form" and submitting the appropriate fees.

NOTE: Per Nebraska Revised Statutes, §71-649, it is a felony to obtain, possess, use, sell, furnish or attempt to obtain any vital record for purposes of deception.

To obtain a copy of a MARRIAGE LICENSE, please click on the Marriage License Request Form.

To submit your non-marriage license records request electronically:
  • Click on the "Public Records Request Form" below (it will load into Acrobat Reader)
  • Save the form to your computer
  • Fill in the necessary information, (including debit/credit card information)
  • Click on "Save"
  • Email the completed form to coclerk@lancaster.ne.gov
To submit your non-marriage license request through the mail:
  • Click on the "Public Records Request Form" below (it will load into Acrobat Reader)
  • Fill in the necessary information (*including debit/credit card information)
  • Print a copy of the completed form
  • Mail the completed form and applicable fees (if paying by check) to the Lancaster County Clerk, 555 S. 10th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508

You may also appear in person during normal business hours (Monday-Friday; 7:30am to 4:30pm) to request copies of public records. The County Clerk's Office is located in Room 108 of the County-City Building, 555 S. 10th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska.

FEES:  Photocopies are $.25 per page
           Certified copies (other than marriage licenses) are $1.50 per page

PAYMENT:  The County Clerk's Office accepts debit/credit cards, checks and cash (please DO NOT send cash through the mail). The total amount of your debit/credit card transaction will reflect pricing through the Nebraska.gov electronic payment processor. Checks can be made out to the Lancaster County Clerk.

*If paying by check, please contact the County Clerk's Office at 402-441-7484 to verify page count prior to sending in your payment as the number of pages varies per document.
