Candidates May Begin to File for 2018 Elections

Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively reminded potential candidates that today, December 1, 2017 is the first day they can file for the 2018 elections.

Candidates for Federal and State offices file with the Nebraska Secretary of State. That office is located on the second floor of the Nebraska State Capitol, Room 2300.

Candidates for the following offices will file with the Lancaster County Election Commissioner, 601 North 46th Street, Lincoln: Lancaster County Board of Commissioner (Districts 1, 3 and 5), County Clerk, Clerk of the District Court, County Treasurer, County Sheriff, County Attorney, Public Defender, County Engineer and Assessor/Register of Deeds.

In addition, candidates for Mayor of Hickman, Hickman and Waverly City Councils, Village Boards of Trustees, and the Malcolm, Norris, Palmyra and Waverly Boards of Education also file with the Lancaster County Election Commissioner, 601 North 46th Street, Lincoln.
