Election Commissioner Reminds Lincoln School District Voters
to Make Sure their Voter Registration is Current
Lincoln - In preparation for the February 11, 2014, Lincoln Public Schools Special Election, Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively is reminding voters to make sure that their voter registration is current. The Lincoln Public Schools Election will be conducted through the mail. No polling locations will be used for this election. Ballots will be mailed to the voter's address on file with the election office.
It is extremely important for voters to update their voter information if they have moved since the last time that they voted. Nebraska law does not allow the U.S. Postal Service to forward ballots to a new address. Therefore, if a voter has moved and filed a change of address with the U.S. Postal Service, the ballots will be returned to the election office as undeliverable.
Voters have options to update their registration. Individuals may register to vote through the mail. Mail-in registration forms are available at most post offices, banks, and libraries. A voter registration form is also available on the Lancaster County Election Commissioner's website: lancaster.ne.gov/election. The form may be downloaded, printed, signed, and then mailed to the Lancaster County Election Commissioner, 601North 46th Street, Lincoln, NE 68503.
Residents may also register to vote in person at the Election Commissioner's office week-days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
