Lancaster County Board Of Commissioners
Accepting Resumes To Fill Lancaster County Engineer Vacancy

Don Thomas, Lancaster County Engineer, has announced his retirement effective December 14, 2013. Per Nebraska law, the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners will appoint a replacement for the remainder of the current term of office.

The Board of Commissioners wishes to thank Don Thomas for his dedicated service to Lancaster County and extends its best wishes to him as he retires. Mr. Thomas was hired as Road Construction Engineer in 1976, and in February, 1981, when County Engineer Marvin Nuernberger retired, he was appointed by the County Board to the position of County Engineer. Mr. Thomas was subsequently elected to the position in 1984 and reelected in the following seven elections. The position will be on the ballot in 2014.

Parties interested in appointment to this position are asked to submit a resume to the Board, in care of Kerry Eagan, Chief Administrative Officer, by November 1, 2013. To be eligible for this position an applicant must be a professional engineer as provided in the Engineers and Architects Regulation Act.

The Board will accept resumes by mail at 555 S 10 Street, Lincoln, NE 68508, or by email commish@lancaster.ne.gov.
