Crimestoppers


What is Crimestoppers?
The Lincoln/Lancaster County Crime Stoppers program was founded in 1980 to assist local law enforcement in solving crime. The local Crime Stoppers program, one of over 800 other similar Crime Stopper programs in the nation, is governed by a volunteer board of directors working in cooperation with the Lincoln Police Department.

How does it work?
Crimestoppers is confidential and will pay up to $1000.00 for information leading to an arrest and/or conviction for a crime. If you have information about a crime please call 475-3600 You do not give your name. You will be given an identification number and if the information you give results in an arrest or conviction for a crime you may be eligible for a reward.

Does it really work?
To date, Crime Stoppers has received over 17,000 calls, resulting in more than 6,000 cases solved, and over 3,500 arrests. Crime Stoppers has also contributed to recovery of stolen property and contraband valued at $7 million.

LPD Case: A8-073589
07-19-2008
Lincoln Police are investigating a missing or possibly stolen stop sign. On or about Saturday, 07-19-2008 a stop sign with a flashing light that was solar powered was struck on the NE corner of 56th St. and Yankee Hill Rd.. The sign and related equipment has not been located. Total value missing is approximately $5000.00.

LPD Case: A8-054794
06-07-2008
Lincoln Police are investigating a theft that occurred at Walmart, 4700 N 27th, on 6-7-08 at 7:30pm. Two females used a key to gain entry to a front cash register and stole an undisclosed amount of money. It appears that one woman grabbed the money while the other woman concealed their activity by holding up a shirt.

Suspect #1: Black female, mid 20s-early 30s, 5'7" tall, 150lbs, wearing a white shirt with floral design on front.
Suspect #2: Black female, mid 20s-early 30s, 5'7" tall, 200lbs, wearing a blue t-shirt.

The photos below are images captured from the video surveillance camera at Walgreens, 4811 O Street. Lincoln Police would like to identify the man regarding his involvement with three quick change scams on the afternoon of 6-1-08. We suspect that he entered Walgreens, Fast Break (4801 Randolph) and Russ's Market (130 N 66th) in an attempt to deceive/confuse the clerks and obtain money through deception. He was successful at Fast Break and Russ's - obtaining $50 at each business. He has been described as a 6'0" late 40s to early 50s. He was with another white male with a similar build, also wearing overalls. They may have left Fast Break in a brown conversion van.

LPD Case: A8-049201
05-24-2008
Lincoln Police are investigating a business Robbery that occurred at Don and Millie's/5200 S. 56th St., on Saturday night, 05-24-2008 at approximately 2320hours.
Two armed suspects confronted employees that were closing the business for the evening. The suspects forced the employees back into the business, pistol whipped one of them, and gained access to safe. The suspects made off with a significant amount of money. Suspects may have left the area northbound into the Colonial Hills neighborhood.
Suspect #1: Black male, 20-25 years old, 6'1 tall, 170lbs, wearing a white flat billed cap, blue bandanna with unknown white design, white baggy shirt, and jeans. Armed with a black semi-auto handgun.
Suspect #2: Black male, 20-25 years old, 5'9-5'10 tall, 160lbs, wearing black flat billed cap, black ski mask with holes for eyes, nose, and mouth. Last seen wearing a black shirt and pants. Armed with a black semi-auto handgun.

LPD Case: A8-048226

Lincoln Police are searching for the suspect involved in a Child Enticement that occurred at 4pm on 5-22-2008 in the area of Pine Lake Road & Norris Lane. An 11 year old girl was walking home from school when she noticed a dark blue 4 door, similar to a Plymouth Breeze, following her. Shortly therafter, the vehicle pulled along side her and the driver asked her name. He then asked if she wanted ride home. She promptly refused and ran to a nearby business. The suspect is described as a white male, in his 40s, pierced ear and brown shoulder length brown hair with blonde streaks. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap and black hooded sweatshirt. LPD Case: A8-046266
05-13-2008
Lincoln Police are investigating a high dollar larceny that occurred over the weekend starting on 05-16-08 to 05-18-08. Leach Camper Sales located at 2727 Cornhusker Highway had at least 10 new campers entered. Taken were several LCD flat screen tv's, with a total value of approximately $2,500+.

Video surveillance captured a light colored Chevy SUV, possibly a Tahoe or Suburban on the lot during the time of the theft.

05-13-2008
At approximately 5:30pm on May 13, 2008, an employee for Dillards, 6100 O street, was sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot when she observed two men enter the store through the northeast 1st floor doors. A few moments later, the males exited the store with several items of clothing that they did not purchase.

Video surveillance indicated that 9-10 polo shirts and 6-8 pairs of shorts were stolen worth and total of $1400.

Lincoln Police are looking for two black males that left in a late model large red sedan.

At 6am on May 13, 2008, a 21 year old woman was jogging along the bike trail near 48th & Vine. A man began following her on his mountain bike, trying to talk with her. The victim told him to leave her alone and continued running east bound. Just after crossing the 48th Street bridge, the suspect unzipped his pants, exposed his genitals and made several sexually laced comments. He was last seen riding away east bound on Orchard.

The suspect is described as a black male, 19 years of age, 6'0" skinny, wearing glasses, a black head scarf, a blue and white striped long sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

LPD Case: A8-033683
04-14-2008

Lincoln Police are looking for a man who molested a 7-year-old girl Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Sunrise Park, near the 7300 block of Douglas Street in Northeast Lincoln. The man reportedly approached two seven-year-old girls sometime between 12:30pm - 1:45pm and told them he was a firefighter. The man told the girls there was a leak at nearby Norwood Park Elementary School and asked one of the girls to run home and get tools so he could fix the leak. When she returned with an adult, the man was gone and the other girl said the suspect touched her inappropriately.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years of age, thin, with brown hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket with grey trim and jeans. Police do not think the man was a firefighter.

The Lincoln Police Department and LFR is investigating an ARSON at 1815 N. 68th St., which occurred on Saturday 02-16-2008 at approx 0600 hours. Unknown person(s) broke into the un-occupied home and set a fire that caused $100,000.00 damage.

A $5000.00 reward is being offered by GuideOne Insurance, in addition to the Crime Stoppers Reward, for anyone coming forward with information on this crime.

The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a Motel Robbery at the Hampton Inn located at 1301 W. Bond on Sunday 01-13-2008 at 0004 hours, (1204am). An unknown person entered the business requesting room information. Sometime during the converstation the person then made threatening remarks and demanded all the money from the register. No weapon was displayed.

The party responsible is described as a white male, 28 to 30 years of age, 6'0 tall, 170lbs, reddish brown goatee, bald head, last seen wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans.

CAPTURED

This case is cleared with the arrest of Maurice Echols. (Pictured Below.)
Original broadcast: The Lincoln Police Department is investigating 2 purse snatches and 2 armed robberies all occurring in the College View area near 48th ST. and Pioneers Blvd.. Again, all the cases involved purses being stolen after the victims were either threatened or assaulted. The last 2 armed robberies occurred on Tuesday 01-08-2008 at 0616am and Monday, 01-14-2008 at 0710am.

The party responsible is described as black male, teens to early twenties, 5'8 to 5'10 in height, 150 to 180lbs, skinny but muscular build, last seen wearing a black 'puffy' style winter jacket with a grey sweat shirt hood pulled up over his head and dark blue jeans. In most cases this person was last seen running eastbound from area.

The Lincoln Police Department is investigating an Auto Theft case involving a 1999 dark blue CMC Jimmy SUV. It was taken sometime between Friday 01-04-08 1800 hours and Saturday 01-05-2008 0745 hours from the area of 1411 'D' St.. A photo of the suspect was obtained from an area convenience store. LPD Case: Burglary
11-29-07

Officers are investigating an attempt Burglary at Sportscasters Bar & Grill at 3048 N. 70th Street. The burglary attempt occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 2:51 a.m. on November 29th, 2007.
Someone tried to gain entry to the business by ramming a pickup through the patio fencing and north side patio glass door. The pickup was stolen from the lot. It had been left there by a customer earlier in the evening.
The suspect did about $2,000 damage to the business and $1,500 to the truck that was left at the scene.

LPD Case: Burglary
11-04-07

Investigators are currently investigating a burglary at Saint Matthews Church, 2325 S. 24th Street. The church was burglarized sometime between friday night, Nov. 2nd and sunday morning when they discovered the break-in. Over $2000.00 worth of electronic equipment was taken from the church.

** COLD CASE INVESTIGATION **

On August 26, 1999 just before 8:00 AM, Officers were sent to 510 Cottonwood Drive in Lincoln, NE. on a medical call. Officers found the victim, Kenneth Genuchi deceased at his home. The case has been classified as a HOMICIDE.

This case has remained unsolved.

Recently, money has been donated to Crime Stoppers in hopes of generating new leads or information.
