Safety & Sobriety Checkpoint Summary
On Saturday evening, July 5, 2008 from 11:00 p.m. until Sunday morning, July 6, 2008 at 2:30 a.m., the Lincoln Police Department conducted a Safety and Sobriety Checkpoint on Normal Boulevard at Sumner Street. This sobriety checkpoint was part of increased enforcement efforts for the 4th of July holiday weekend.
During the detail, 368 total vehicles came through the checkpoint. Drivers in 97 of those vehicles were contacted. In addition, officers conducted a verbal survey consisting of three questions. These are the results:
Twenty (20) Official Citations
- 3 - DUI/.02 (1-DUI, 2-.02)
- 2 - No Proof of Insurance
- 1 - No Operators License
- 1 - No Operators License on Person
- 1 - Negligent Driving
- 1 - Provisional Operators Permit Violation
- 1 - Fail to Dim Bright Lights
- 3 - Driving Under Suspension
- 2 - Minor In Possession
- 4 - Open Container
- 1 - Possession of Marijuana
Sixteen (16) Warning Citations
