City Parks, Trails & Gardens

Welcome...
to the Parks Division Web Site!

The Parks Division of Parks and Recreation Department is the section that provides maintenance, and upkeep of 99 miles of trails, 114 parks, gardens, plazas, malls, islands and/or conservancies (covering nearly 5100 acres), 11 outdoor pools, 8 recreation centers, two dog run parks, and over 127,800 city trees in Lincoln. The Planning and Construction Section at Parks and Recreation continues to work toward the future and refurbish the past through its tasks and talents. The Community Forestry/Horticulture Section is not only responsible for nearly all the city street and park trees, but also, for the beautiful gem; the Lincoln Sunken Gardens. And all together the work alongside the Veterans Memorial Garden Advisory Board to maintain the beauty, accessibility, and serenity of the Veterans Memorial Gardens in Antelope Park.

Lincoln continues to grow and with the new growth comes additional needs for all these types of public places. As a Lincolnite you can expect Parks and Recreation to continue to grow with the city. With so much public space to maintain crews work tirelessly to keep them all in prime shape for your enjoyment, appreciation, and pride. We ask that as you visit our parks, trails, and other facilities, or as you venture down treed city street, that you see the value of them all as they combine to make "Lincoln A Better Place to Live."
