ActivAge Centers

All ActivAge Centers are community focal points and principal sources of information, activities and opportunities related to aging. ActivAge Centers are readily available to those who need services or those who have concerns for elderly parents, relatives, friends and neighbors. ActivAge Centers are the place in your community where you may obtain information, education, join fitness and health classes, enjoy recreational activities, share experiences and enjoy a delicious meal. Meet old friends. Make new ones! Choose from a wide variety of activities, classes, and events. Please come and join us. The numbers for each ActivAge Center are listed below. Services

Meals and Activities:  Most Centers offer a delicious noon meal and varied daily activities. Each Center has a menu and activity calendar posted on its web page. All Centers offer the same menu items. Reservations must be ordered by calling the Center you wish to attend two days in advance to ensure that an adequate number of meals are prepared. The actual cost of the meal is approximately $5.50, however individuals over the age of sixty are asked to pay a $3 suggested contribution. Individuals who are under the age of sixty are asked to pay $6. In the event of special holiday meals, individuals over the age of sixty are asked to pay a suggested contribution of $5. Individuals who are under the age of sixty are asked to pay $7 for special holiday meals. A sack dinner is also offered daily for the same suggested contribution.  If transportation to and from the center is desired, you may reserve your transportation at the same time. Order HandyMeals for holidays and weekends, apply for Farmers' Market Coupons, and obtain information about free or low-cost food resources at the Centers or by calling 441-7158 for the Center nearest you. Some centers may serve as distribution sites for various food programs.

"Dinner and a Show":  Come and enjoy our monthly evening events of entertainment and dining at various locations throughout the city. Reservations must be made before noon, two days prior to the event by calling 402-441-7158. Space is limited, so early registrations are encouraged! Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm; entertainment starts at 6:30 pm. The price is $7 for people over 55; and $8 for people under 55. Pre-payment is encouraged as "at the door - two dollars more," that is $9 for people over 55 and $10 for people under 55. Van transportation can be arranged for an additional $2. You can't beat the price for a good meal and quality entertainment.

Transportation:  Transportation is provided to each center within a specified boundary area. (Call the individual center for details) Shopping assistance is also provided on a bi-monthly basis to area grocery stores. There is a nominal charge for van transportation, please call the Center nearest you two days in advance to schedule your ride.

Health Services:  Many of the Centers offer transportation to the Senior Health Promotion Clinic on a monthly basis. The Senior Health Promotion Clinic offers foot care and other health services at no charge. In addition, many Centers offer seasonal flu shots. Please contact the Center nearest you for further information.

Health and Fitness:  There are a variety of fitness activities and opportunities offered at all Centers including Pilates, Yoga, Stretch and Tone, Nutrition Education, Fitness Assessments and Body Fat Composition. The Belmont Center is located in a City Parks and Recreation Facility whose fitness equipment and classes are accessible to participants. The Downtown Center has its own Forever Strong fitness facility with free personal trainers available at designated times. All other Centers offer fitness and health programs and classes as well as walking programs.

Income Tax Assistance:  Many Centers offer free Income Tax Assistance from February through April. For information about which Centers will be offering tax assistance either check the monthly calendar on each center's web page or call   402-441-7158 for further information.

Facility Rental:  Having an evening or weekend meeting or a special celebration? Need a place to meet? Call the Northeast Center at 402-441-7151, or the Downtown Center at 402-441-7158, and make arrangements!

Weather Closings for ActivAge Centers and Programs:  During times of severe weather, listen to KFOR (1240 AM) for storm closing information. ActivAge Centers and Programs usually close if the Lincoln Public Schools close due to weather conditions. There are occasions when the ActivAge Centers and Programs will opt to close due to weather conditions when the Lincoln Public Schools are not closed. The ActivAge programs include: ActivAge Centers; Lifetime Health classes and programs, ActivAge Tickets, Tours and Events, Volunteers Services, and Transportation Services.

Transportation Contributions: The price for a one-way trip on Lancaster County Rural Transit is $2.00. This contribution will be accepted by cash or, for your convenience by purchasing a 10 punch ticket. Tickets are available by mail, or in person at the Lancaster County Rural Transit Office at:
