"Click it or Ticket" Campaign Results
May 31, 2010

The “Click It or Ticket” mobilization is a nationwide campaign to increase awareness and usage of seatbelts and child restraint systems. During the period of May 28, 2010 thru May 30, 2010, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office participated in the mobilization efforts by conducting saturation patrol. Additional deputies were on duty from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM to monitor traffic for apparent traffic law violations.

During the saturation patrol efforts, an additional 100 vehicles were contacted which resulted in 1 criminal arrest, 1 subject being arrested of an outstanding warrant, 33 official traffic citations, and 89 warning/defect cards being issued. Official citations included (1) driving while intoxicated, (4) driving during suspension, (1) refusal to sign the citation, (19) speeding, and (8) various traffic law violations.

There were no citations issued for seatbelt or child restraint violations. The criminal arrest was for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Overtime compensation for the additional deputies working during the “Click It or Ticket” mobilization was paid through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
